Original Sin

by Gormack

Humanism is a trap!

From the assumption that human beings are intrinsically good follows the proposition that government institutions can produce a paradise.

It was Marx’s mistake. It is the mistake of this Administration.

The Hanging Gardens of Nineveh

by Gormack

Yes Nineveh!

The references to Babylon are from Greek sources who were a bit fuzzy on Mesopotamia.

Assyrian reliefs, archives, and and archaeological evidence attest to lavish and extensive gardens at Nineveh, Nimrud and other Assyrian cities.

Equivalent evidence for such gardens at Babylon is wanting.

Sorry Nebuchadnezzar!

A Great Threat

by Gormack

On 29 October, 1956, Great Britain, France, and Israel invaded Egypt over Nassar’s decision to nationalize the Suez Canal.

President Eisenhower was furious and demanded the aggressors withdraw. He instructed the Secretary of the Treasury to prepare flood the markets with Pounds Sterling held by the US Government.

The British Exchequer advised Prime Minister Anthony Eden the resulting devaluation of the Pound would ruin the economy.

Britian backed down, Eden’s government fell, and England relinquished forever the role of imperial superpower.

This government’s reckless spending puts the Nation at great risk!

MAD For A New World?

by Gormack

Interesting thought from Fareed Zakaria in The Post-American World:

“The Chinese-American economic relationship is one of mutual dependence. China needs American markets to sell its goods; the United States needs China to finance its debt – it’s globalization’s equivalent to the nuclear age’s Mutual Assured Destruction.”

But others say that the Chinese have already bootstrapped their economy and infrastructure with proceeds from American exports. They have or will soon have what they need from us.

They will use, or threaten to use, the power they now hold; the means to destroy the U.S. currency by putting their Dollar reserves on the world markets.

Obama Urges Finance Industry to End Regulation Fight

By Roger Runningen and Hans Nichols for Bloomberg.com

April 22 (Bloomberg) — President Barack Obama called on the financial industry to drop the “furious effort” to fight his regulation plan, saying a failure to impose tougher rules on the market will put the U.S. economic system at risk.

A Simple Equation

by Gormack

There is no program too expensive, no debt too large, no government too ponderous.

Reckless spending will be supported by extortion of the American taxpayer and borrowing from the Chinese. When the former is exhausted and the latter becomes wise they will simply print money until the world decides the dollar is no longer credible.

This leadership will not rest until the engine of commerce that has driven the world is spent, borrowed, and taxed into submission; our way of life destroyed from within by socialist terrorists and their starry eyed supporters with a world vision that does not include realism.

Tea Party

by Gormack

A panel on Fox News was discussing the Tea Party movement.  Even the liberal pundits admitted that the movement is not driven by self interest but a commitment to principles laid down by the Founding Fathers: fiscal responsibility, smaller government, lower taxes, and liberty; freedom from intrusion by a bloated and misguided bureaucracy.

Imagine that: advocates dedicated to the wisdom of the Constitution. It’s enough to restore faith in the American electorate!

Never!

by Gormack

Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never — in nothing, great or small, large or petty — never give in, except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.

Winston Churchill, October 29, 1941

Constitutional Rights

by Gormack

The Rights defined by the Founding Fathers of this country are: Life, Liberty, the Pursuit of Happiness.

That’s all.

This administration would have you believe that your responsibility as a taxpayer is to fund a crushing burden of government mandated “Rights” for those who do not pay taxes
