Socializm

by Gormack on April 3rd, 2010

I went to Mass this morning. The priest is Polish, one who had in his lifetime been victimized by the Soviet experiment known as Communism.

The Gospel was on social justice: Lazerus, the poor but honest man goes to Heaven, and the rich man who gloated in his wealth and dispised the poor goes to hell. Roles are reversed.

The Priest spoke in his Sermon on the personal responsibility each of us has to the poor and underprivlidged. He emphasized the “personal’ part of the equation.

He scanned the congregation and said in his heavy accent “Now they want to introduce Socialism in this country. Why? It doesn’t work! It never works! It drags down  everyone.”

A simple message from a religious, plain speaking man from Poland. It’s worth repeating:

“Why?”
